Blog Post# 2 DH Project Model

I enjoyed reviewing The 1619 Project – The New York Times (nytimes.com), a New York Times article. They were able to help me understand how to truly make a website look like an exhibit. The website is not only interactive but it is eyecatching and basically begs the vistors to play with the website. The photos, language and formatting make the difficult informations eaiser to engage with.

The Women’s writers project offered a different perspective. It was displayed as an essay while it may be in the same category as an exhibit it had a different feel. The work felt bland and lacked the necessary media to make the webiste eyecatching and attractive to readers.

Blog Post #3 Coding

I enjoyed coding for HTML! Overall it was a simple step-by-step process and I felt like I learned a new way to make my website stand out. However, CSS stopped me dead in my tracks. Has anyone else had a similar experience? When I worked on coding it took me over 2 hours to feel as though I was making progress then once I completed my work I realized I still fell short and had to restart my assignment. For today I will not be completing it. Maybe tomorrow I will be able to see new results!

Altogether I do think that students should learn CSS and HTML because it has the potential to launch them into professions otherwise unavailable to them and gives them a foundation for loads of other work. As the world progresses, we become more technologically dependent and fields that didn’t use coding before may find new uses for them in the future learning coding the 21st century is a way to give your students a leg up in a competitive job industry.
